PRESBYTERIAN WOMEN (PW) Presbyterian Women
Presbyterian Women is a church wide organization that is open to all women who wish to participate.
Purpose - Forgiven and freed by God in Jesus Christ, and empowered by the Holy Spirit, we commit ourselves:

* To nurture our faith through prayer and Bible study
* To support the mission of the church worldwide
* To work for justice and peace, and
* To build an inclusive, caring community of women that strengthens the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) and witnesses to the promise of God's kingdom.

PW is active in obvious ways, such as; cookies and punch receptions, coordinate flowers for the sanctuary, decorate the church for Christmas, clean the silver in the parlor and sanctuary, and provide care boxes to families during bereavement.

The less obvious is the focus on prayer, Bible Study, missions, social needs and caring for each other in God's Kingdom. Many "women" hours are behind these "gifts of women."

Currently at Starmount, we have five circles with 85 active members that meet monthly. We also have a care circle of women who may or may not attend a regular circle. This group helps out on an as needed basis for meals during sickness, deaths, births, etc.

The PW at Starmount continue to sustain the Birthday Offering, the Thank Offering and Least Coin. Monthly offerings are taken to support both local and global missions and are based on pledges. With pledges, donations and memorials PW gave over $5000 to missions last year.

Some projects we espouse or help mission with are; the Triad Health Project (AIDS) "Higher Ground" lunches, Mary's House, Greensboro Urban Ministry, Salvation Army, Prayer Shawl Ministry, Pound Cakes for Ham's Restaurant Free Christmas Dinner, Bach's Lunch (a free lunch concert 5 days in March, open to the community), Joining Hearts and Hands, Angel Tree, Refugee Family, Sell fair trade coffee, and GIHN. Some circles sponsor families that have ongoing needs with the hope of improving their lives.

The circles offer Bible study each month from September to May. There is a yearly retreat, which is also a time for Bible study and sharing.
