Introduction

There is a new hunger across the Presbyterian Church (USA) to reclaim and to reconnect with our rich missional history. Here at Starmount, our members are not only experiencing that hunger, but are responding with new energy and enthusiasm to Christ’s call to join with what God is doing in the world: Mission!

Former PC(USA) moderator, Rick Ufford-Chase, has observed that Presbyterians don’t want to do "mission by proxy," but by getting out of the pews and into the world. And so we do! As you read, experience, and are perhaps surprised by all of the many ways in which we at Starmount are daily called to touch the lives of others with Christ’s love, may you be inspired by the fresh wind of the Holy Spirit which is enlivening our church. 2008 Mission Trips

March 23-28:  John Knox Presbyterian Church, Metairie, LA (8-12 grades)

RHINO, "Renewing Hope in New Orleans" (adults only)

Both groups will take the Starmount bus down and back but will have separate experiences during the week doing construction/manual labor in New Orleans.

May:  Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter Work Project (adults only)

June 22-27:  Sunset Gap – Crosby, TN, (adults only)

Join with the mission team from Jamestown Presbyterian to do construction/manual labor in Appalachia.

June 22-29: Chiapas, Mexico (9th grade* – adult)

Journey with Salem Presbytery to do a week of construction in Mexico.
*Minors must travel with a parent or designated parent.
